Lowe: Restore would remove "millions" who came to Britain legally
The Restore Britain leader says the main immigration crisis is at Britain's airports, not Dover, as Nigel Farage prepares to set out Reform's asylum plans.
Rupert Lowe has pledged that a Restore Britain government would remove "millions" of migrants who came to the UK legally.
The Restore Britain leader and MP for Great Yarmouth wrote on X at 07:53 BST on Monday 12th October: "The main immigration crisis lands in our country not at Dover, but at Gatwick, Heathrow and Stansted. A Restore Britain Government will remove millions of migrants who arrived legally, but are a drain on our society, our economy and our people."
In a video attached to the post, Mr Lowe said: "A government can have zero small boats tomorrow and still operate a completely unsustainable immigration system."
He said Restore's position is that "non-citizens should be here on terms that serve Britain's interests", listing "work", "contribution", "good character", "integration", "English" and "self-sufficiency".
"We will not fund foreign nationals who are unable to financially support themselves or their families," he said. "If foreign nationals live in social housing and claim benefits, I wish them well. But they will be made to leave our country. Politely, at first, but then with some encouragement."
The post did not say how many people would be affected or how removals would be carried out.
Farage asylum speech
Thirteen seconds before Mr Lowe's post, also at 07:53 BST, Reform UK leader Nigel Farage wrote: "Today, I am announcing that a Reform UK Government will SHUT DOWN the asylum system. This is a national security emergency and must be dealt with. Watch LIVE at 11AM to find out more."
Mr Farage is due to speak at 11:00 BST. Mr Lowe's post did not mention Reform.
Citizenship pledge
Mr Lowe's comments follow an earlier Restore pledge on citizenship. In a video posted on X at 13:02 BST on Monday 5th October, he said a Restore government would carry out "a mass review of citizenships granted" and establish an "Office for Citizenship Standards".
"We will forensically root out fraud and deception, and those found guilty will be stripped of their British passport and deported," he said.
He added: "Restore Britain's policy is this. All citizenship grants will end other than through marriage with strict fraud checks attached."
"The vast damage inflicted on our nation through mass naturalisations cannot be undone entirely, but we will do everything in our power to make British citizenship mean something again and reverse what we can," he said.
In the same clip, Mr Lowe said the plan would be delivered "on a timetable which is acceptable to the British people", and that "the number is secondary. It is the principle which will come first."
