Lowe calls for a "deportation NATO" against countries that refuse returns, starting with Pakistan

Restore Britain leader says visa bans "are just not enough" and wants Western nations to act together on aid, trade and remittances.

Rupert Lowe has called for a "deportation NATO" of Western nations to put coordinated pressure on countries that refuse to take back their citizens deported from Britain, and said Pakistan would be the first target.

In a long post on X at 12:40 BST on Sunday 11 October, the Restore Britain leader wrote: "Visa bans alone are just not enough".

He said that "when Restore Britain first proposed this one year ago, it was part of a wider attack package on countries that refuse to accept their deported migrants". He added that "many of those countries will be placed on our red list regardless and have all civilian immigration halted entirely".

He went on: "It needs more, it needs harmonised visa sanctions across like-minded Western nations, a co-ordinated suspension of visa issuance, reviewing any investment relationships, complete foreign aid cancellation, brutal diplomatic pressure, targeted trade measures and tariffs, harsh sanctions on individuals."

"Do it as one, together. A deportation NATO," he wrote.

He called for "further controls and targeted taxation on remittances and dividend payments", adding: "We will make them pay. Pakistan will be the first country to feel the full force of our measures. It will be a good day."

Restore's policy paper Mass Deportations: Legitimacy, Legality, and Logistics, published on 9 October 2025, includes similar proposals. It advocates "sanctions like visa bans, aid cuts, and tariffs, plus a NATO-like coalition of Western nations doing likewise", naming India, Nigeria and Pakistan. It also proposes a 25% tax on remittances to countries with large illegal migrant populations in Britain, and a dividend tax on profits sent to countries judged uncooperative on returns.

Eight minutes after Mr Lowe's post, Restore's official account set out a related tax pledge. "We will introduce fair and proportionate withholding taxes on dividends paid to overseas shareholders, tax remittances, and implement systems to ensure that profits generated in Britain deliver a reasonable return to the British economy," it said.

Mr Lowe's post followed a pledge by Reform UK leader Nigel Farage. At 19:42 BST on Saturday, Mr Farage wrote on X: "I'll impose tariffs, airline bans and visa bans on any country that refuses."

The Home Secretary already has powers under section 72 of the Nationality and Borders Act 2022 to impose visa penalties on countries judged not to be cooperating on returns.

Sunday's posts set out pledges only. They gave no costings and were not accompanied by a new policy paper.
