More in Common survey puts Restore on 5% in Scotland, while Rupert Lowe says Peterlee candidate won more than 14%

Restore Britain is on 5% in Scotland for Westminster voting intention, ahead of the Scottish Greens on 3%, according to a More in Common poll released ahead of the SNP conference in Aberdeen, the Scottish Daily Express reported on Thursday 15th October.

The paper reported the SNP on 30%, Labour on 24%, Reform UK on 16%, the Conservatives on 13% and the Liberal Democrats on 8%. More in Common said "fragmentation among unionist voters" was a "large factor" in the SNP's lead, according to the Express.

A separate Express report on the same poll said Rupert Lowe had a net approval rating of -13% in Scotland, ahead of the Scottish Green co-leader Ross Greer on -19%. His fellow co-leader, Gillian Mackay, was on -12%, the paper said.

Mr Lowe wrote on X at 18:22 BST on Thursday: "New polling in Scotland has put Restore Britain straight in at 5% - beating the Greens." He added: "As the second largest party membership in Scotland, there is A LOT more to come from Restore Britain." His membership claim could not be independently verified. The party's account posted: "Scottish poll just out - Restore Britain beating the Greens in Scotland already."

The figures follow national polls this week that put Restore on between 1% and 6%, as previously reported.

Peterlee by-election

On the same day, Restore Britain's Marcia Talbot stood in a by-election for the Howletch ward of Peterlee Town Council in County Durham, according to the council's statement of persons nominated. She faced candidates from Labour, Reform UK and the Green Party, and an independent.

Durham County Council had not published an official declaration at the time of writing.

Mr Lowe wrote on X at 06:31 BST on Friday 16th October that Ms Talbot "won over 14% of the vote", calling it "our best ever election result outside of Great Yarmouth". He also said the party had "scored more than the Lib Dems and Greens combined" in Shepshed, Leicestershire, and added: "The votes we are winning do not belong to us, and we have a fight on our hands to hold that trust."

Henry Bolton, of Restore Britain, wrote at 07:32 BST: "Last night Restore Britain's Marcia Talbot gained 14% of the vote in Peterlee. The direction of travel is very clearly up."
